Building Capacity for AI-Native Public Institutions: CBC and Sarvam Join Hands to Build Sovereign AI Capacity under Mission Karmayogi

The Capacity Building Commission (CBC), in collaboration with Sarvam, organised a workshop on “Building Capacity for AI-Native Public Institutions”. Chaired by Ms. S. Radha Chauhan, Chairperson, CBC, the workshop brought together senior stakeholders to explore how AI can be meaningfully embedded across the Mission Karmayogi ecosystem. The discussions underscored that AI readiness must go beyond individual capacity building to institutional capacitation, enabling Ministries, Departments, Organisations (MDOs) and Training Institutes to develop the capabilities, systems and workflows needed to adopt AI at scale.

Dr. Vivek Raghavan, Co-Founder, Sarvam, highlighted the importance of building India’s sovereign AI capabilities, while Sarvam showcased emerging AI applications for the Government. This was followed by discussions on how CBC can build the capacity to translate such opportunities for public institutions across the ecosystem.

Taking this shared resolve forward, CBC and Sarvam signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate for capacity building towards institutional AI readiness. The MoU was signed by Shri Jagdeep Gupta, Secretary, CBC, and Dr. Vivek Raghavan, Co-Founder, Sarvam.

Together, CBC and Sarvam will work towards building AI-ready public institutions that can responsibly harness AI to reimagine government workflows and strengthen citizen-centric service delivery.
